Sunny Deol Strikes Gold Again: Gadar 2 Shatters Records, Nears Rs 400 Cr on Day 12! Is Shah Rukh Khan's Reign Threatened?

Sunny Deol's latest action drama, "Gadar 2," has achieved a remarkable milestone on its 12th day, entering the coveted Rs 400 crore club. This feat, previously attained only by Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan," solidifies Sunny Deol's position as a box office powerhouse. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, "Gadar 2" registered an impressive Day 12 collection of Rs 11.50 crore, propelling its total earnings to Rs 400.10 crore.

Notably, the film's collections on Tuesday demonstrated a minimal decline of just 10-12% compared to its second Monday, showcasing its robust performance and audience appeal. As the week progresses, "Gadar 2" is poised to maintain its positive trajectory and is anticipated to witness another surge in the upcoming weekend, even in the face of competition from Ayushmann Khurrana's "Dream Girl 2," set to release this Friday.

With its current momentum, "Gadar 2" is on track to cross the monumental Rs 500 crore mark during its theatrical run. However, it aims to surpass the existing record set by "Pathaan," which currently holds the distinction of being the highest-earning Bollywood film, with earnings of Rs 524 crore (Hindi language only).

The Question Looms: Can "Gadar 2" Surpass "Pathaan"?

While "Gadar 2" has garnered significant attention and success, surpassing "Pathaan" might prove to be a challenge. The unparalleled business generated by the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer in its first five days places it at an advantage. During its initial five days, "Gadar 2" collected Rs 229 crore, whereas "Pathaan" achieved an impressive Rs 271 crore. Notably, "Pathaan" continues to hold strong with total collections of Rs 543 crore, including dubbed versions.

Even if "Gadar 2" doesn't manage to surpass the all-time record set by "Pathaan," its achievements remain commendable, especially considering the tough competition it faced at the box office, including releases like Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" and Rajinikanth's "Jailer." In contrast, "Pathaan" enjoyed a solo release, contributing to its initial success.

A Sequel to Remember

"Gadar 2" serves as the highly anticipated sequel to the 2001 blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha." Featuring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their iconic roles from the original, the film continues the legacy of the beloved franchise. Directed by Anil Sharma, who also helmed the first installment, "Gadar 2" promises an action-packed experience coupled with a compelling storyline.
